PUBG Mobile in 2026: Still the Same Chaos, Still So Good
A casual take on revisiting PUBG Mobile years later, remembering how obsessed everyone used to be, and realizing the game still has that same magic.

Overall score
16.4/ 20
I feel like PUBG Mobile was not just a game back in the day. It was basically a whole lifestyle for a lot of people, especially in South Asia. Everyone had that one friend who was always asking, “Squad bana rahe ho?” and somehow one quick match would turn into three hours.
There was a time when PUBG Mobile was everywhere. People were playing it in college, at cafés, during breaks, late at night, and probably when they were supposed to be studying. In India alone, it was once PUBG Mobile’s biggest market by users, accounting for around 29% of its total downloads. That honestly explains why the game felt impossible to escape back then.
I recently decided to revisit it again in 2026, mostly because I was curious whether it would still feel fun or just feel old. And honestly, it is still good. The moment I landed in a match, found a weapon, and heard footsteps nearby, I got that same small panic feeling from years ago.
The game is obviously not as fresh as it once was. There are more modes now, more cosmetics, more events, and sometimes too many things happening on the screen. But the core gameplay is still strong. Landing, looting, surviving, trying to find your squad after everyone runs in different directions, and getting eliminated by someone hiding behind a rock… it still works.
Also, the game is definitely not dead like some people like to say. Exact player numbers can be difficult because of regional versions, but current estimates still place PUBG Mobile at around 25 million daily active players. In India, BGMI—the local version connected to the PUBG Mobile legacy—has passed 240 million downloads. That is honestly crazy for a game people started calling “old” years ago.
Of course, I still got destroyed by players who clearly never stopped playing. The movement is faster, people are better, and I probably spent more time looking for loot than actually winning fights. But even after losing a few matches, I understood why people were so obsessed with it.
PUBG Mobile in 2026 is not just nostalgia. It is still a proper fun game, especially when you play with friends. It may not have the same insane hype as before, but the feeling of getting that chicken dinner is still somehow worth it. What do you guys think?
