Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is now official. After being teased ahead of its reveal, Cold Iron Studios and Daybreak Game Company have announced the sequel to the 2021 cooperative third-person shooter, with a release planned for summer 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

This new entry expands the squad format from three players to four, pushing the game further into team-based survival action. Players will once again step into the boots of Colonial Marines, this time facing a deadlier Xenomorph threat built around ambushes, overwhelming numbers and more tactical pressure.

One of the biggest additions is the new Specialist class. Unlike a fixed role, the Specialist allows players to mix major and minor abilities from other classes, giving squads more flexibility when building their team composition. This could make each run feel less predictable, especially for players who want to experiment with different builds instead of being locked into one strict playstyle.

Horde Mode is also returning with multiple dedicated maps available at launch. The mode will focus on escalating waves of Xenomorphs and other enemies, turning teamwork, positioning and resource management into the core of survival. For a game based on pressure and panic, this mode could become one of the main reasons to keep playing after the campaign.

For fans of the first game, Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 looks like a direct upgrade rather than a full reinvention: bigger squads, deeper class customization and a stronger focus on coordinated chaos. The first game already had a solid foundation for co-op action, but the sequel seems designed to make every mission feel more intense, more flexible and more replayable.

With its summer 2026 launch window, more gameplay details should arrive soon. For now, Aliens fans finally have confirmation that the Fireteam formula is coming back with power.
